The Problem
The Southern region currently lacks the proper number of competitions and competitor spots to properly meet demand throughout the state.
By The Numbers
For the time period January 1, 2022, to October 31, 2022:
Oklahoma had 0.252 Competitions per million people
Louisiana had 0.215 Competitions per million people
Texas had 0.206 Competitions per million people
Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas placed
35th, 36th and 37th
Out of the 40 states that had held competitions during this time
The Solving Southern Speedcubing Initative
By the end of 2024, we will
Organize as a 501(c)(3) or LLC organization, abiding by the WCA Code of Ethics
Have a mean competitor count greater than 100
Hold enough competitions yearly to meet proper demand
Work more with statewide colleges and universities to establish on-campus cube clubs and hold events
Keep competitor fees reasonable and affordable for all competitors
